Hi Ontbirders, This is of local interest as they are not easily found around here. I saw and heard (call and song) a male Eastern Towhee at 9:00 this morning in the Britannia Conservation Area / Mud Lake woods. It was in the small clearing that you reach after you walk south through the wooded area south of the Rowatt St. gate.
The BCA can be reached by taking Pinecrest Road (exit 129) off the Hwy 417. Go north on Pinecrest, then turn right (east) onto Richmond Road. After Richmond crosses Carling Avenue, turn left (north) onto Poulin Avenue. Poulin intersects with Britannia Road. Turning right onto Britannia will take you past Rowatt St. but you may have to carry on to Cassels St. and turn right to park. Good birding to all...
