Durham Festival of Birds Presented by Pickering Naturalists, Durham Region Field Naturalists and North Durham Nature RAIN or SHINE Sunday May 25 at Port Whitby Marina, 310 Watson St. Whitby Ontario. Register by May 10th for either event at http://designtree.ca/entry-form-skies/festivalhome.htm. Space is limited. Net proceeds will go to a local charity. Wings Over Whitby - Fun for the whole Family 9:00am-4pm May 25 Port Whitby Marina Join our expert presenters for some fun birding workshops, followed by a scavenger hunt at nearby birding hot spots! Check-lists for the hunt will be distributed to each team prior to departure from the Marina and you can find as many species (or as few) as your team wishes. Come back to the Marina at the end of your hunt and join other birders for some light refreshments later in the afternoon. You may also win a prize donated by our sponsors. Adults and children will enjoy this relaxed approach to bird finding and identification, so get a group together, think of a cool name for your team and register at the link provided above! Maximum 6 members per team/$5.00 per member. Durham Skies Big Day - a 24 hour birding event for experienced birders This event begins Saturday May 24. On May 24th, check in between noon and 4:00pm at Durham Skies - 1410 Bayly St., Pickering (in person or via telephone). Your 24 hour bird search will commence at your check-in time. Finish your Big Day back at the Whitby Marina for refreshments and prizes donated by our sponsors! For experienced birders looking for a challenge, here is an opportunity to spend a full 24 hours birding in a friendly, yet competitive environment. Search all of Durham Region for as many species as possible... but don't think it will be easy! Remember that individual permits are required to enter Nonquon Sewage Lagoons.
