Just after lunch today, decided to check out the Carden Alvar (mainly Wylie Rd) based on "positive" post by Jean Iron yesterday.
First the negative... did not get the Loggerhead Shrikes ( neither at Wylie nor Cameron Ranch).... very windy, they were likely hunkered down !!! However, did get the following (that were new to me for 2014) Upland Sandpipier (one heard) Wilson's Snipe (many) Northern Harrier (one) Eastern Bluebird (pair at box 10) Brown Thrasher (2 on same Buckthorn... pair ???) Rusty Blackbird (2 males, side by each !!) Lots of other species... Including, Meadowlarks, multi Sparrow types, Downy, Hairy, Flicker, Phoebe, Blackbirds, etc. See you out there....
