Today I started my Shrike surveys at Carden Plains, north of Kirkfield. I observed two Loggerhead Shrikes, one just east of Victoria Rd, ~ 1/2 km north of Macnamee Rd and the other along the east side of Shrike Rd. Despite the poor weather, birding was active. Also heard two American Bitterns calling, saw two kestrels and lots of Meadowlarks.
