Today, Sunday 4 May 2014, there was an excellent selection of shorebirds at
Hillman Marsh in the shorebird cell, which is managed specially for spring
shorebirds. Highlights late this afternoon were:

9 Long-billed Dowitchers in breeding plumage
2 Marbled Godwits
3 Willets
10 Pectoral Sandpipers
1 Ruddy Turnstone
2 Least Sandpipers
70 Black-bellied Plovers, many still molting into breeding plumage
150+ Dunlin still molting into breeding plumage
1 Lesser Yellowlegs
2 Greater Yellowlegs
Several Killdeer

Tomorrow, Monday May 5th, OFO volunteers will be available at the shorebird
cell from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. to help with shorebird identification. Please

Directions to Hillman Marsh
Main entrance to Hillman Marsh is east of Leamington at Mersea Road 2 and
County Road 37. The Shorebird Cell is about a 5 minute walk on a flat firm
trail from the main parking lot.
