Good afternoon birders, Although birding has slowed down a bit in the afternoon heat, the birding is still good at Rondeau, and will no doubt improve in the evening. A total of 28 species of warbler have been reported today.
Prothonotary Warblers have been seen on Tulip Tree Trail, near the deer exclosure on Bennett Road and on Harrison Trail north of the group campground. None of these birds have been at all reliable today. Neither of the Summer Tanagers reported today have been seen again. 2 Clay-colored Sparrows have been seen on the lawns of the cottages near the entrance of Marsh Trail. Reports of such uncommon species as Yellow-throated Vireo, Blue-winged Warbler and Orange-crowned Warbler have been widespread around the park. Birding continues to be better in the northern part of the park.
