Point Pelee NP Migration Report May 16

Activity is still very good after the wonderful fall-out of birds yesterday. At
the Tip, with the westerlies, birding was best along the east beach. Birds were
low and good views were had of many warblers, tanagers, thrushes, orioles and
many others. About 24 species of warbler have been reported so far.

The Tip had CANADA, TENNESSEE, BLACKBURNIAN, CAPE MAY WARBLERS, NORTHERN
PARULA, OVENBIRD, SCARLET TANAGER, female BOBOLINK, CLIFF SWALLOW, GRAY-CHEEKED
THRUSH, and there was a report of a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT seen near the Sparrow
Field.

Another CHAT was reported from the Dunes picnic area.

A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was found at bridge A on the Woodland Nature Trail. Many
other warbler species were seen as well along this trail and also at Tilden
Trail.

Where the Chinquapin Trail starts off of Tilden Trail, a YELLOW-BELLIED
FLYCATCHER, MOURNING WARBLER and an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER were found.

Outside the Park, a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was reported near the Wheatley
Golf Course. As people left the Wheatley PP, they found it near the barn with a
boat beside it.

There is a potential for hawks moving into the Park today.
