At 5:15 p.m. today, and again fifteen minutes later, I observed a first
year male Summer Tanager dining at my back yard suet feeder. Wings and
lower belly were olive-yellow and the remainder of the bird's plumage
was red.
I live in Bayview Village, about 1 km north on Burbank from Bessarion
Subway Station on Sheppard Avenue (between Leslie & Bayview). My feeders
are not visible from the road, and difficult to get to from the valley
behind my house, and it remains to be seen if the bird will stick around.
