Hello Fellow OntBirders, Here are the sighting details that I recorded in iBird Pro on my iPhone. (Note: I added the lat/long tag to my sighting when I got home so please DO NOT navigate to the coordinates unless you want to come see me)
May 18, 2014 at 12:24:39 PM EDT Latitude: 43.83903906, Longitude: -79.09995452 One individual foraging with mixed flock of BARS and TRES over David Farr Memorial Park along Pine Creek, Pickering. I spotted the bird while walking my dogs along the east side of Pine Creek behind my house. The bird showed distinct white on black markings and had the typical flight pattern of a swift. Luckily I have spent considerable time working in Colorado or else I'm not sure this one would have jumped out at me quite the same. I watched the bird for ~1.5 minutes before it flew out of sight behind some silver maples. Last flight direction was north, but it did not appear to be going anywhere fast. Best way to access the park is via Glenanna Rd. between Liverpool and Dixie. Head north from Glenanna by foot just west of Pine Creek and you will find a large, circular concrete pad (an old amphitheatre) - this is as close to the location as you can get. Very cool finding - hope to see some resightings! -Everett -- Everett E.
