Mary Carnahan sent me an email saying that she saw about 300 Whimbrel in
several  flocks and 50 Black-bellied Plover at Port Stanley between 12
and 1 pm today.

Port Stanley is south of St Thomas in Elgin County at the lake end of
Hwy 4.

Most watchers park on the east side of Kettle Creek in the old coal pile
storage yard where one can look straight out at the east breakwall where
shorebirds often land.

Alternately, you can move to the west side of Kettle Creek by crossing
the lift bridge just west of the only set of lights in Port Stanley.
There are various parking areas near the turn around and along the
beach. Walk out to the beach where you can watch for shorebirds flying
by, resting or foraging along the beach or perched on the west side of
the west breakwall.

Dave Martin posting for Mary Carnahan.
