Did a drive around sod farms north of Beeton. Most fields pretty dry, or recently plowed. I was somewhat surprised to find a buff-breasted sandpiper on the east side of Hwy 50 about three kilometres south of Hwy 89. This was at about 2:00 pm. The field in question is at mailbox 4270. Unfortunately the field was in the process of being plowed under, but at least this is an indication that there are buff-breasteds in the area. One concession east and south of this spot is another productive area. The field in question is on the southwest corner of 25th sideroad and the 7th concession. There were 77 american golden plovers, all adults in fading breeding plumage.
To reach the area where the buff-breasted was, go west on hwy 89 from Alliston and turn south on Hwy 50. The correct field is at Mailbox 4270.
