American Kestrel, Broad-winged Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Cooper's Hawk and Sharp-shinned Hawk really asserted themselves for the first time, and Bald Eagle and Northern Harrier continued their strong early showings. Non-raptor Observations: Common Loon (4), Sandhill Crane (2), Bobolink (3), Cape May Warbler (2), Spotted Sandpiper (2), Blue-winged Teal (2), Pied-billed Grebe (1), American Goldfinch (16), Red-winged Blackbird (125+), Chimney Swift (1), Mink (1), Northern Watersnake (1), Monarch (60+), Great Black Wasp feasting on Katydid (1) Predictions: A lot like today, it's going to be sunny and clear with light east wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
