Thanks to everyone who stopped by. Weather: It was mostly cloudy overhead after an extended stretch of blue sky domination during recent outings. A touch of haze enshrouded Canada throughout, limiting visibility slightly. The wind was light and out of the southeast. Raptor Observations: Sharpie action was hot and heavy from the late morning on. By midday, they were pushing past by the barrelful, moving through in groups of twos, threes and fours. Besides the sharpies, not much else was up and active, though, and by the end of the day I was beginning to sound like a bit of a broken record. Non-raptor Observations: Sandhill Crane (2), Bobolink (60+), American Goldfinch (9), Chimney Swift (3), Bank Swallow (1), Blue-winged Teal(1), Wood Duck (5) Predictions: Overcast with light south wind in the morning and a 90 percent chance of severe thunderstorms in the afternoon. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
