Visitors:
There was a nice full tower again today, with most people staying for at
least a few hours or more. It's great to have so many eyes on the lookout
for birds, so thanks to everyone!
Weather:
A cool and cloudless morning which warmed up nicely and had some clouds
move in a few hours after opening. Winds came from the N and NE.
Raptor Observations:
We had both good numbers and species variety today (13 species). We saw
over 20000 Broad-winged Hawks and had a fairly constant stream of
Sharp-shinned Hawks and American Kestrels. 2 Peregrine Falcons near the end
of the day were quite the treat. Many of the Broad-wings were kettling over
the lake and streamed back over the tower.
Non-raptor Observations:
Not a lot of movement today but at least 15 species of non-raptors were
seen. Blue Jays have started to trickle by in small flocks; 610 were
counted in the morning before the Broad-wings started coming through in
numbers. 9 Monarchs. See today's eBird list

Predictions:
A cool morning but warming up in the afternoon with winds switching from
the N to SE.
