A group of 14 of us ventured out into the chilly early-morning temps and met at
Bronte Provincial Park (North section) to bird the tallgrass fields and
surrounding treelines.

We were also attempting to relocate a few targeted species that had been
reported (by a couple of the individual participants in our group) to eBird
over the previous couple of days from this location.

Collectively, members of our group saw well over 50 species of birds this
morning.

A total of 11 sparrow species were seen, including 3 Nelson's Sparrows and a
couple of grasshopper sparrows. Ammodramus sparrows that were not identified
were also encountered. Other highlights from the dry tallgrass fields included
2 Sedge Wrens and a Sora.

Another excellent find was an adult Northern Goshawk spotted by Andrew Don and
Mourad Jabra after most of the group had left.

Many thanks to all who participated in what quickly morphed into an impromptu
"field" trip!

The entrance to the north section of Bronte Provincial Park is on the south
side of Dundas St., just west of Tremaine Rd. It is not particularly
well-marked.
