Five intrepid young birders joined Justin Peter and myself at Tommy Thompson
Park today. In total we found 55 species of birds. Highlights included flyover
American Pipits, loons and close looks at a Red Shouldered Hawk which flew just
over our heads. We had a great variety of ducks including winter ducks which
are beginning to appear.

Apart from birds, we saw a few late Monarchs and had wonderful looks at a mink
catching fish and grooming itself.

Andrea Chreston of the TRCA gave a very informative talk about the cormorant
colony.

Many thanks to Justin and Andrea for a great day.
