Some slightly amended text...

Hi Folks,

This evening (October 23/14) between 5:45pm and 6:10pm I observed and
photographed the Johnson Township Scissor-tailed Flycatcher that was first
observed in the yard of Terry Winter (local naturalist) and first reported to
ONTbirds on October 22/14 by Mark Oliver. Two local birders from the Sault
(Kirk Zufelt and John Ralston) both observed and photographed the bird this
morning (Kirk Z.) and just after lunch (John R.).

I found it within a few moments of arriving to the general area. It was
fly-catching from a shrub close to the farmhouse at 1997 Gordon Lake Road.

It did this for about 10 minutes then I watched it fly to east facing side of
the house where it eagerly caught bugs associated with the windows and roof
edges of this farmhouse.

I would have expected it to be on the west facing side (where the energy of the
sun was most) but I guess the east side of the house must have more heat loss
and hence more bugs.

When it got too cold it took cover in a semi open barn, with skylight windows,
that contains sheep, chickens and cows (and likely bugs). This is the last I
saw of it...by then it was getting dark.

Location: Gordon Lake Road just north of Old Soo Rd. and just south of Diamond
Lake Road (bird has been observed on both sides of the road). This location is
13km north-east of Desbarats, ON or 19km north-west of Bruce Mines (both are
situated along Hwy 17).
