Visitors:
Quite a few visitors came up the tower today, enjoying a beautiful, warm
fall day. Many thanks to Dan Lumm, Jim McCoy, and Donny Moore for helping
w/ the count and to the hawk-banding crew for bringing a Red-tailed Hawk
and Sharp-shinned Hawk to the tower for many to enjoy. 


Weather:
Variable cloudiness throughout the day w/ some hours having 0% cloud cover
and others having 100%. Winds were out of the SW in the morning and then
shifted to W in the afternoon. It was a warm day w/ temperatures reaching
23.6C.

Raptor Observations:


Non-raptor Observations:
A few passerines migrated by the tower in the morning but by afternoon,
very little was on the move. The marsh continues to be great for waterfowl
w/ Wood Duck, Gadwall, American Wigeon, Mallard, Blue-winged Teal, Northern
Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Redhead, and Ring-necked
Duck all seen from the tower. A major highlight today was a single American
White Pelican that flew high over the tower in the morning and then
returned in the afternoon, flying 20 metres from the tower, where many
observers got to enjoy great looks. A few passerine migrant counts:
American Crow (155), Horned Lark (24) Tree Swallow (31), American Robin
(24), European Starling (3,510), Cedar Waxwing (137), Red-winged Blackbird
(290), Pine Siskin (169), American Goldfinch (217). 

Predictions:
Sunny w/ west winds throughout the day gusting up to 20km/h and
temperatures up to 14C in the afternoon.
