There are currently fifty-plus Ruddy Ducks in Grenadier Pond in Toronto. No idea if they're going to be there tomorrow, but they're there now and actively feeding. (Feeding complete with whole-flock-at-once diving.)
(Also some bufflehead, many northern shovellers, and the ubiquitous mallards.) The Ruddy Ducks are near the south end of the pond, making the 501 Queen streetcar and walking up from the Colborne Lodge stop the easiest way to see them. High Park is located in Toronto between the Queensway and Bloor Streets, north-south, and Parkside Drive and Ellis Avenue East-West. The eponymous subway stop, and walking ~2.0 km south, the Queen (501) streetcar to the Colborne Lodge Drive stop and walking ~0.5 km north, or driving along the Queensway or Lakeshore and turning north on Colborne Lodge Drive and doing your best to find a parking spot from which you can walk down to the Pond will all get you to the appropriate location beside Grenadier Pond, which has a comprehensive trail along its eastern edge. -- Graydon _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
