We are looking at what seems to be a good candidate for juvenile Yellow-billed Loon below niagara falls. It has a noticeably larger and much paler bill than the nearby common loons, which it isn't associating with. It is browner and paler overall and the head pattern seems to be right. Noticeable pale barring on the back. None of us have experience with this species, and looks are not excellent as it is across the river. Still a juvenile Sabines Gull present. Follow the signs for niagara falls, and park about a kilometre north of the falls at Dufferin Islands. The bird is below the falls on the far side about halfway between horseshoe and american falls. Reuven Martin with Mark Dorriesfield, Todd Hagedorn and the university of guelph wildlife club. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
