Raptor Observations: 13 birds of 3 species flew through today. Most were Red-tailed Hawks (8), followed by Northern Harriers (3) and Cooper's Hawks (2). A few other Red-tailed Hawks were seen hunting but didn't migrate. Non-raptor Observations: It was pretty quiet out there. Much of the marsh is open water again so there was a return of ducks, mostly Mallards, with the odd American Black Duck, Northern Shoveler and Northern Pintail in there. See today's eBird list http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S20670358 Predictions: Still a cool day but North winds! Wind strength should also be much lower, so we may see a few more raptors flying through the marsh. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jenna McDermott ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Conservation Area information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
