This morning, shortly after 8 am I had two white geese fly over me heading from Big Creek Marsh towards the north. I later found what I assume were the same birds in a mixed flock of geese and cranes. From the photos and views I obtained these birds look like an adult and a young Ross's Goose. In the same field was an impressive flock of close to 700 Sandhill Cranes.
Photos of the geese and a video of the cranes plus exact coordinates are in my eBird checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S20704946 Directions: >From the intersection of Hwy 24 and 59 in Port Rowan, go north on Hwy 59 for about 1 kilometere; the birds were in a corn stubble field just north of Concession A Road. A combine tractor was working another part of the field so some of the birds have likely moved but are probably still in the area.
