There is great excitement about the warblers at Sedgewick and people from far and wide have been coming to see and photograph these birds. In the last week, we have been approached by the Jehovah's Witness on Lakeshore Road about parking in their lot to quickly access the area that these birds are in. The people there have given us permission to park there on all days except for SUNDAY. Please be advised that the access to the park on Sunday should be through the entrance on Hixon. This entrance is located at the east end of Hixon Road which is one light north of Lakeshore Drive. Hixon can be accessed from Third Line. Its a few extra steps but the people of the church have the right to request this from the group. They also have the right to refuse access to the parking lot or ticket and tow people that don't adhere to this. Today there was a count of over 50 people in the afternoon and some who parked in the church lot.
Please be respectful of this small request. There have been a couple of reminders sent out to the local group but I thought it best to post widely since a number of people from outside the HSA would like to see these on their winter lists. Also it is a small space for people to watch these birds. Please let them feed freely and don't harrass or chase them down. I found the best strategy is letting them come to you. They are stressed enough with the cold and finding food. If you have any comments or concerns, please email me privately.
