Temperatures  varied between - 17°C to -11 ° C.  It was overcast all day 
and heavy snow  began late afternoon.  Westerly winds varied from 10 to 20 kph 
with gusts  to 30 kph.  The Nation River was partly open and all still 
water was  frozen.  
The 33  field observers and 4 feeder watchers counted 43 species and 6800 
individual  birds.    
The number  of species is about the  same as the 11-year average of 43.4, 
and the total individuals was higher  than our average of 5162.  
Gyrfalcon  (2 individuals) and White-crowned Sparrow are new on a  count  
day, but  during the count week period a Carolina Wren (new to the count as 
well) was  seen.   With the Gyrfalcon and White-crowned Sparrow the all-time  
species list increases to 71.  Another Count Week species includes House  
Finch.  
Record  highs:   
American Herring  Gull 828  (previous high 350 in 2013) 
Glaucous  Gull 58 (previous 30 in 2014) 
Great  Black-backed Gull 753  (previous  high 450 in 2013) 
Red-breasted  Nuthatch 59 (previous 57 in 2014) 
Dark-eyed  Junco 363 (previous 231 in 2014) 
Noteworthy  absences from the count are Gray  Partridge, Bald Eagle, 
Northern Shrike, and Horned  Lark.
