FISH CROWS were the highlight of reports received January 29 through February 5 from the Niagara Frontier Region. During early February, at least two FISH CROWS, heard and seen in Fort Erie, Ontario, in the area of Gilmore Road and Jennet Street, a short distance from the Niagara River. February 1, a report that a SNOWY OWL has been at Bear Ridge Road and Killian Road in the Town of Pendleton for a week. The open waters of Dunkirk Harbor are supporting winter waterfowl - February 3, 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, plus numbers of AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, CANVASBACK, REDHEAD, GREATER SCAUP, BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON GOLDENEYE, HOODED MERGANSER, COMMON MERGANSER, RED-BR. MERGANSER and AMERICAN COOT. Also in the harbor, 2 D.-CREST. CORMORANTS, over 100 GREAT BLACK-B. GULLS and 13 BALD EAGLES, including five adults. Waterfowl this week on the east Niagara River, between North Tonawanda and Grand Island, included over 1900 CANVASBACKS and on the Little River at Tonawanda Island, 30 HOODED MERGANSERS. Other Niagara River reports - at the north end of Squaw Island, a female SURF SCOTER, a pair of BALD EAGLES on the Strawberry Island nest, two PEREGRINE FALCONS off the West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo, and another BALD EAGLE on the Reef Lighthouse. Also this week - 6 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS at the Buffalo Ski Club in the Town of Colden. 10 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS on Mapleton Road in North Tonawanda. EASTERN BLUEBIRDS also attracted to a sunflower chip feeder in East Amherst. An AMERICAN ROBIN feeding on mealworms at the same location. At other feeders - a PINE SISKIN at a feeder at the Buffalo Airport. And another PINE SISKIN with 3 COMMON REDPOLLS at a feeder in Medina.
