One of the problems that we must consider is that the residents have 

been feeding these special birds and keeping them alive in this harsh 

environment. If we cause them to stop feeding because of our rude and 

inconsiderate actions, we will cause the death of the birds. Aren't we 

bird lovers!!!

 

I witnessed such behaviour near the Painted Bunting where a 

photographer/birder after more than 3 hours refused to leave the side 

of the property when the owner asked him to allow others a chance. As 

a member of the same club and a photographer/ birder, I was appalled


by his attitude.

 

Some of the strife arises when large numbers of watchers flock in to 

see an unusual bird as we had with the Hooded Warbler some years back 

- over 100 birders in about 3 days. 

 

I believe we need someone to spend an evening at our Naturalists club 

meetings reviewing the rules and ethics. Most of this is common sense 

but some people lack that. Birding is such a joy and it is a shame that 

we have this blight on our record.
