  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
  Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological
  Society. To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Press

  Highlights of reports received February 19 through February
  26 from the Niagara Frontier Region.

  February 22, 2 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS among 25 CEDAR WAXWINGS at
  Majors Park in East Aurora, at the Route 16 parking lot at
  the south edge of East Aurora.

  The February 22 BOS field trip to Dunkirk Harbor, on frozen
  Lake Erie, reported 29 species concentrated in the harbor
  waters. Highlights were an impressive 46 BALD EAGLES in the
  harbor and adjacent woodlots. Also, RED-THROATED LOON, 2
  male SURF SCOTERS, BLACK SCOTER, numbers of WHITE-WINGED
  SCOTERS, 5 LONG-TAILED DUCKS, RUDDY DUCK and 27 D.-CREST.
  CORMORANTS; plus a PEREGRINE FALCON on the power plant.

  Also on Lake Erie, at Bennett Beach in Angola, a mix of 18
  waterfowl and woodland species included a PILEATED
  WOODPECKER. Several of the species were attracted to seed
  scattered in the park.

  On the upper Niagara River, along the East River Road of
  Grand Island, 76 TUNDRA SWANS, 18 RING-NECKED DUCKS and 14
  HOODED MERGANSERS. At the Lewiston Docks on the lower river,
  highlights were abundant LONG-TAILED DUCKS, over 100 WHITE-
  WINGED SCOTERS and 6 BALD EAGLES.

  COMMON RAVENS continue their recent winter occurrences along
  the Niagara River - 2 in Tonawanda at the River Road power
  plant and adjacent Sawyer Road. Another COMMON RAVEN at the
  snowed-in waterfowl viewing area on the Moses Parkway in
  Niagara Falls, and two reported COMMON RAVENS away from the
  river near the Buffalo Airport.

  Other recent reports - 6 RED-W. BLACKBIRDS on Sawyer Road in
  Tonawanda. Multiple flocks of AMERICAN ROBINS in the Niagara
  County Towns of Porter and Wilson. COMMON REDPOLL at a
  feeder near the Buffalo Airport. And flocks of 350 and 275
  SNOW BUNTINGS with HORNED LARKS and a few LAPLAND LONGSPURS,
  attracted to manure spreads and farm bunkers in the Genesee
  County Towns of Bethany and Alexander.
