Hi Below is a count of Ducks around Presqu'ile today for our Waterfowl Weekend.
Count courtesy of Trent University Students - Ariel Lenske, Amber Lyall, Kevin Young and Friends Greater Scaup - 2,200 Redhead - 500 Long-tailed Duck - 120 Common Goldeneye - 100 Canvasback - 100 Ring-necked Duck - 25 Mute Swan - 18 White-winged Scoter - 13 Bufflehead - 12 Canada Geese - 9 Gadwall - 3 Hooded Merganser - 3 Common Merganser - 3 Red-breasted Merganser -1 Harlequin Duck - 1 male Most ducks were at Government Dock, Harlequin Duck was around Salt Point In addition 1 Red-throated Loon, 1 Bald Eagle Immature and a Barred Owl seen near Jobes' Woods Trail To reach Presqu'ile Provincial Park, exit 401 at exit 509, Brighton and head south about 15 minutes following the signs through Brighton. Locations within the Park are shown on a map at the back of a tabloid that is available at the Park gate. Access to the offshore islands is restricted at this time of year to prevent disturbance to the colonial nesting birds there. Birders are encouraged to record their observations on the bird sightings board provided near the campground office by The Friends of Presqu'ile Park and to fill out a rare bird report for species not listed there.
