On a tip form the Susan Haydon I encountered 5 Ross’s Geese with a group of about 200 Canada Geese at the Everett Gravel Pits. Also present were 5 Cackling Geese, a Common Merganser, 2 Wood Ducks, a Black Duck and some Mallards. The Everett Pits are on the 5th sideroad of Ajala-Tosonoto west of Alliston.
Directions: Drive West from Alliston on Hwy 89 for about 4 kilometres and turn north on the third Concession. Take the next left onto the 5th Sideroad. The pit is on the north side. The birds also were seen feeding in the field on the north west corner of the 5th Sideroad and the 3rd concession. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
