Hello Birders, There is a female Black-backed Woodpecker at Gannon's Narrows Conservation Area north of Peterborough. The bird was first discovered by my daughter Valerie Wyatt and son-in-law Paul Grant at 4:20 pm today. It was still there between 4:50 and 5:00 when we returned for photographs.
The woodpecker is working on a dead Scots Pine located on the left about 10 m in from the metal gate at the entrance to the abandoned parking area. Directions: From Ennismore, travel approximately 8 km north on Tara Rd. Tara Rd changes to Blackpool Road before Gannon's Narrows which separates Pigeon Lake from Buckhorn Lake. The Conservation Area is on the left side of the narrows just before the bridge. Park at the entrance to the CA and walk approximately 80 m to the metal gate at the entrance to the abandoned parking area. Cheers, Bryan Wyatt Sent from my iPad _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
