Wildlife Preservation Canada staff have been out searching the landscape and
have turned up a few birds on the Carden Alvar so far, but it’s early days yet
and more birds are sure to come. If you spot a Loggerhead Shrike, we want to
know about it.

Please report any sightings to:

Hazel Wheeler - Species Recovery Biologist

Returning birds may be banded, either with a single metal band, or with a metal
band and a combination of colour bands. Please take some time to get a good
look at the legs of any shrikes spotted, if you can, and note any bands seen.

There may also be some birds out there carrying geolocators; these have two
bands (red over metal), and we want to know about them ASAP. If recaptured,
the data downloaded from that geolocator will help us to figure out the
migratory routes and wintering grounds of our Ontario birds, which is the most
important research question we currently have.

Happy birding!

Hazel
