‎There are currently two Chukars in the Food Basics parking lot at Don Mills and Steeles. They are roosting under a small rusty coloured pine tree beside the fence bordering the Steeles 404 off ramp. One appears to have a right broken leg as it was hobbling on one foot. Both birds can likely fly and Chukars do fly well so try not to spook them.

It is possible both birds are escapees...but that is merely a guess since they're not native to Ontario or North America for that matter. But some numbers have accumulated out west as they were introduced as game birds so I do believe they're a countable species.

Chukars have been spotted in this area here last year.

Food Basics plaza is at Don Mills and Steeles...you can enter plaza from either street. Best to take 404 and get off at Steeles and then go west if you're coming from the 401.
