This evening, about 8:00 p.m., I heard a Sora rail calling in the southernmost cell of the Richmond lagoons. It called several times. I could not see it in the cattails and tussocks out in the cell but it sounded like it was about 20 metres out. Directions: From Ottawa take Eagleson Road to Richmond. Continue on Eagleson past Perth Street for another 700 metres. There is a small parking lot for the lagoons on your right. Upon entering the lagoons you will see a viewing platform on your right. Walk down the berm (between the southernmost and middle cells) past the viewing platform for about 100 metres. The bird was on the left calling from the vegetation.
