Another morning that started off slow but that as the day as heated up so has the bird activity. Twenty-one species of warblers have been reported up until 11:30 am.
There were a moderate number of birds taking part in a southerly movement off of the Tip including a Summer Tanager, several Indigo Buntings, Scarlet Tanagers, Orioles, and Bobolinks. A couple of Sandhill Cranes were flying over the Parking Lot at the VC. The Tip area of the park produced several good species including a female Cerulean and male Canada Warbler. A White-faced Ibis was reported from the Tip so people might want to check Hillman Marsh later in the day for it. The West Beach Trail between the Tip and the half-way tram stop provided a female Hooded Warbler just north of the tram loop, a Sedge Wren just south the "Serengeti Tree", a female Kirtland's Warbler about 200 metres north of the same tree, and a Yellow-breasted Chat on the main road right near the tram stop. The hottest report from the Woodland trail is a Worm-eating Warbler just reported from the Botham Loop part of the trail. A Hooded Warbler is near the Worm-eating. A second Worm-eating or the same one was just south of that loop on Woodland Trail at Post 4. A Summer Tanager was reported from the large Sycamore tree on the east portion of the Woodland Trail. The seasonal trail going north off of the north end of the Tilden Trail seems to be a hot spot of specialties such as Hooded, Canada, & Mourning Warblers. A Carolina Wren was also reported from the seasonal part of the Tilden Trail. There have been no reports from further north in the park so far today.
