Brant are still being observed on a few rock outcroppings just west of Chimney
Island in the St. Lawrence River. Chimney Island is 2 km. west of Brown’s Bay
Day Use Area along the 1,000 Islands Parkway. 1/3 of the numbers from this
morning have moved on, but there are still good numbers to be seen, several
hundred.

Directions: take the 401 8 km west of Brockville to the 1,000 Islands Parkway
exit. Travel along the Parkway until Brown’s Bay on the south side, then mark 2
km past there. Going west. There is a rest area and Chimney Island is an
obvious island from the shore, with a chimney structure in the centre. Follow
the Gull and Tern fallout which is happening now, along the shore of the river
westbound. Ribbon of white as far as the eye can see.

Brenda Evers, Brockville.
