BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCK was the highlight of reports
received May 28 through June 4 from the Niagara Frontier
  Region.

From Niagara County, it was reported that a BLACK-BELLIED
WHISTLING DUCK has been at the mouth of 12 Mile Creek, at
Wilson-Tuscaurora State Park, for at least a week. The duck
has been viewed from the Riverview Drive boat launch to the
west, and the state park to the east. There are only three
previous records of this vagrant species in the BOS archives
  - one in 2010 and two records in 2011.

Also in Niagara County, EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE contines in
the area of the Wilson Harbor.

A late report from May 23, a very high count of 11 ORCHARD
ORIOLES along the Lake Erie shore from Fort Erie to Rock
Point Provincial Park in Ontario, including 4 at the Old
Fort Erie property. Also in Ontario, WHIP-POOR-WILL calling
from the Wainfleet Bog along Wilson Road.

Cattaraugus County reports from late May included 20 warbler
species. In the Town of Yorkshire at the northern county
line, VESPER SPARROW, GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH and 12 warbler
species including PRAIRIE WARBLER. PRAIRIE WARBLER also at
Bird Swamp in Machias. On the Allegany State Park Pilgrimage
  - 18 warbler species in the park included LA. WATERTHRUSH
but no Yellow-thr. Warblers. Also in the park, OLIVE-S.
  FLYCATCHER and BARRED OWL.

PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS returned to previous breeding location
in the Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area - the woodlot
along the canal crossing Meadville Road.

May 29, UPLAND SANDPIPER persisted in the fields to the
southwest of Route 77 and Minkel Roads in the Wyoming County
Town of Java. Multiple BOBOLINKS at the this location.

Other reports this week - YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO photographed
at Griffon Park in Niagara Falls, New York. And SCARLET
TANAGER and juvenile CEDAR WAXWINGS in a Cheektowaga yard.

The final BOS meeting of the season will be on Wednesday,
June 10. Meet at 6 PM at Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo
with your picnic dinner, to be followed by a hike through
  the preserve.

The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, June 11.
