Birders: Late this afternoon I first heard and then found a White-winged Dove in Rondeau Provincial Park. One had been seen and heard intermittently during the period May 25-30 slightly north of the Visitor Centre, but nothing had been reported since. Presumably this is the same bird that has been somewhere less noticeable since that time.
Today the bird was noted 100 metres or so in the White Pines north of the Visitor Centre, but a bit later it was opposite the Visitor Centre in some oaks, before flying off slightly southeast. In all probability it hasn't gone too far at all. A photo is on my blog: http://pawsnaturenuggets.blogspot.ca Directions: From Hwy 401, take exit 101 south (Chatham-Kent Road 15) and follow the signs to the park. The Visitor Centre is about 5 km inside the park along Lakeshore Road. A park permit is required.
