Hi Everyone Ben and I paddled over to Upper Duck Island this afternoon and searched for the kingbird. Unfortunately, no luck, but there were numerous Eastern Kingbirds, Great Crested Flycatchers and a few Eastern Wood-Pewees. Hard to know if the bird is still on the island or in the area. We entered the river from parking lot P7 along the Rockcliffe Parkway. It took us around 15 minutes to paddle over to the island. I also scanned the island/tree tops between 6:30am-7:15am from the Ontario shoreline. There is no way to be certain whether or not the bird is still on the island, but it is worth a look.
Good birding, Bruce and Ben Directions: From Ottawa take Hwy 417 east to 174 and exit at Montreal Road. Turn right and go a short distance and turn left to enter the parkway. Drive west to P7 parking lot and follow path to shoreline. Bruce Di Labio P.O.
