One of the first places I went when I arrive was the weedy field sw of the
corner of 10 Line and 15th Sideroad were 4 reported last evening by John
Schmelefske. I spent about 15 minutes perusing the field with my 15x
binoculars and found only some Ring-billed Gulls. I then drove slightly
further west near the House number 5540 and noticed 14 Killdeer resting in
a fleshly-ploughed area of the field only about 20 m from the Road. While
pulling my scope out of the vehicle something flushed the Killdeer, and
with them the 4 Buff-breasted Sandpipers. Even though they were quickly
flying west with the Killdeer I as able to see buffy-colored underparts,
yellow legs and dark upper parts including rump and tail. The
Black-bellied Plovers and single American Golden-Plover were about 200 m
further west and on the south side of the 10th Line.
Four small sandpiper about this size of Buff-breasted Sandpipers were seen
from a distance on the edge of a Soy Bean field near 11th Line/10th
Sideroad at 3:30 pm may have been the same group ... but they disappeared
into a Soy Bean crop before Josh and I could establish a positive ID.

Directions from Toronto: north on Hwy. 400 to exit #64; west on Hwy. 88 to
Bond Head; north on Hwy. #27 to 8th Line; west to 15th Side road; north to
10 line.
