In mid-morning of August 19 Alan Woods and I were fortunate to have 2
Green Herons within 30m. of the south platform at Cranberry Marsh in
Whitby, ON. They were within 10m. of each other and periodically thrust
their necks out with beaks wide open.
Other birds seen from this platform were Black-crowned Night Heron, Great
Blue Heron, Great Egrets, Eastern Kingbird, a young Wood Duck, 2 Spotted
Sandpipers and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
As we drove up Reesor Rd. we observed a perched American Kestrel.
The north Reesor pond is far too high. We did see a flying, then perched
Osprey.
At the south Reesor pond were 2 tagged Trumpeter Swans.
