  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided by your
  Buffalo Museum of Science and the Buffalo Ornithological
  Society. To contact the Science Museum, call 896-5200. Press

  report.

  Highlights of reports received August 20 through August 27
  from the Niagara Frontier Region.

  AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS this week - up to four in the
  Genesee County Town of Oakfield, along Macomber Road between
  Ham and Lewiston Roads. Also abundant KILLDEER and small
  numbers of HORNED LARKS in the same fields.

  August 23, UPLAND SANDPIPER, north of the Iroquois
  Refuge, at Posson and Fletcher Chapel Roads in Shelby. And,
  an ORCHARD ORIOLE in the hedges along Posson Road.

  Also the 23rd, a count of 11 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS over a yard
  in the Town of Tonawanda.

  On Grand Island, migrant warblers increased this week at
  Beaver Island State Park - BL. AND W. WARBLER, MAGNOLIA
  WARBLER, CHESTNUT-S. WARBLER, BL.-THR. BL. WARBLER and 2
  CANADA WARBLERS, plus BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO. On the Beaver
  Island State Park beach, a RUDDY TURNSTONE on August 25.

  Just east of downtown Buffalo, AMERICAN KESTRELS fledged
  young at Broadway and Iroquois Place. And, don't be
  surprised by released CHUKAR partridges in the Tonawanda
  Wildlife Management Area.

  There will be a BOS shorebird field trip on Sunday, August
  30, along the north shore of Lake Erie in Ontario. Meet at 7
  AM at Vermont and Busti, near the Peace Bridge in Buffalo.
  Car pooling is planned, bring a lunch and border crossing
  documents, and expect parking fees at one of the
  destinations - Rock Point Provincial Park. Visitors are
  always welcome on BOS field trips.

  The Bird Report will be updated Thursday evening, September
  3. Please call in your sightings by noon Thursday. You may
  report sightings after the tone. Thank you for calling and
