Well since the problem persists lets forget about the attachment and send it another way. Here printed below is the obituary I located in an on line message from a member of The Storytellers Circle of Halifax sent to another member.
Kayo Kayo Roy 13 Kinsman Court. Fonthill, ON. L0S 1E3 [email protected] In case you missed it, our group has been very saddened to hear of the passing of Blake Maybank. His obituary is no longer on line, so I am copying it here. The Storytellers Circle of Halifax will be dedicating our Sep gathering at which Blake was to be the Featured Teller in his honour. We will post more information later. ****************************************************************** We are saddened to announce that we lost Blake Maybank on Wed. July 15, following a recent diagnosis of cancer. He leaves behind his sister Brenda, her husband Murray, and many wonderful friends. Blake was a birder, photographer, naturalist, thespian, world traveller, teacher, poet, published author, blogger, singer, neighbour, friend, and dog (make that Sam) walker. Blake first acted with Prospect Players in Death in Character. He was also in Rise and Shine Summer Grove, was a story teller in the Family Fun Evening and was a member of the Prospect Players organizing committee. Blake went on to act with Bedford Players (The Mousetrap), Dartmouth Players (Blithe Spirit) and Theatre Arts Guild (The Reluctant Resurrection of Sherlock Holmes). Blake also acted in murder mysteries. Blake was a member of the You Gotta Sing Chorus, having sung in the choir just a month ago. Blake was also a member of the local Storytellers Circle as well as the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia. He was an author, lecturer and tour guide, with passionate interests in nature, photography, writing, music, travel, cinema, television, and theatre. Blake worked for Parks Canada for a number of years. Blake was past-president of the Nova Scotia Bird Society and wrote “Birding Sites of Nova Scotia.” Blake was often heard interviewed on CBC Radio regarding various aspects of nature. Blake touched many lives with his many interests, including leading and participating in many Meet Up groups. Blake returned from a trip to Iceland about a month ago, as guide for his travel club. He was hospitalized one week later. Blake guided many of his friends on excursions around the world, from India to Cuba, sharing with them a love of birding and photography. Blake also provided local tours to cruise ship passengers and visitors to Halifax. The day before he passed, despite having been bed-bound for three weeks, Blake was his usual witty self, referencing theatre and acting. Blake enjoyed the company of good friends and colleagues, fine wine (which he enjoyed making and consuming), intelligent conversation, and loved to debate politics. Blake will be sorely missed. There will be a Celebration of his Life and Adventures on Sunday, July 19, from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Atlantic Branch Legion in Whites Lake, 3495 Prospect Road. This will be a pot luck in memory of his annual birders pot luck event, so bring something for the table if you wish. If you are unable to attend, be sure to raise a glass in his memory. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may make a donation In Blake's name to the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
