But once the rain ended, a pleasurable afternoon commenced. Cloudy skies muzzled the sun and a gentle breeze kept us nice and cool. Raptor Observations: Osprey flashed once again, producing another high-quality early season flight. Non-raptor Observations: Waiting for the rain to subside, we happened upon a number of warblers foraging in the trees near the count site, including Blackpoll Warbler (6), Bay-breasted Warbler (2), Canada Warbler (1), Yellow Warbler (1), Nashville Warbler (1) and Chestnut-sided Warbler (1). Predictions: Partly cloudy skies with warm temps and moderate south wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
