Raptor Observations: Osprey and Northern Harrier continued to dominate the count totals, both species active from late morning on. American Kestrel picked up the pace, shooting through by the twos and threes. But other species (I'm looking at you Sharp-shinned Hawk) remained mostly disinterested. Non-raptor Observations: Common Nighthawk (1), Pectoral Sandpiper (1), Great Egret (1), Chimney Swift (14), Cedar Waxwing (30+), Red-winged Blackbird (70+), Blue Jay (7), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (5), Canada Goose (12), Black Saddlebags (11), Green Darner (12), Monarch (22) Predictions: Clear skies with warm temps and light south wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
