It was hot. It was humid. It was hazy. The wind was light and out of the south. Raptor Observations: A trickle of migrants drifted by throughout the day, often crossing quite close to us. Non-raptor Observations: Spotted Sandpiper (1), Wood Duck (1), Black-and-white Warbler (1), Blackpoll Warbler (3), Warbling Vireo (2), House Finch (5), American Goldfinch (8), Purple Martin (29), Tree Swallow (65+), Chimeny Swift (47), Red-winged Blackbird (99), Cedar Waxwing (83), Mourning Dove (12), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (2), Black Saddlebags (66), Common Green Darner (18), Monarch (7) Predictions: A change in conditions appears likely. Tomorrow's forecast calls for overcast skies, cooler temps, moderate northwest wind and a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms during the morning hours. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
