Sorry for the delay the compiler was engaged in the Ticats/Argos match up
last night......the right team won.

It's another busy week on all fronts here in the Hamilton Study Area. The
top of the list as usual this time of year highlights the specialties of the
season down at the west end of the lake. On East winds two days ago,
LONG-TAILED AND PARASITIC JAEGERS as well as our first juvenile SABINE'S
GULLS were seen. Last weekend, after east winds last Friday a BLACK-LEGGED
KITTIWAKE made a pass at Hutch's in a group of gulls travelling east. Other
birds seen at this end of the lake include White-winged Scoter, Long-tailed
Duck, Common Loon, Bonaparte's Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull and a good
movement of Common Terns. A neat sighting last Sunday was of a pod of 27 -
34 Red-necked Phalaropes with a couple of Little Gulls feeding at the end of
Green Road. A Red-necked Phalarope was seen on Thursday by a keen observer.

The other highlight of the week was a co-operative female CONNECTICUT
WARBLER seen at Edgelake Park at the extreme northeast corner of the park by
a house with a utility shed in the back. The bird was seen up until last
night, can't see it travelling far in the these conditions. Another good
sighting yesterday was of a late Louisiana Waterthrush at Edgelake as well.

Windermere Basin is still a hotspot this week. Birds reported from here
include Pied-billed Grebe, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Green Heron,
Black-crowned Night-Heron, American Coot, Black-bellied and American
Golden-Plover, Spotted Sandpiper, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Red Knot
(last seen earlier in the week), Sanderling, Semipalmated, Least, Baird's,
Pectoral, and Stilt Sandpiper and Short-billed and Long-billed Dowitchers.
Nearby at Tollgate Pond Black-bellied Plover, Spotted Sandpiper, Greater and
Lesser Yellowlegs, Ruddy Turnstone, Sanderling, Baird's Sandpiper and a
highlight of a Buff-breasted Sandpiper.

Out on the sod farms this week a small gathering of American Golden Plover
and a Black-bellied Plover came from the south east Corner of Ferris Rd and
White Church road.

The woodlots have also been busy this week. Migrants reported from various
locations include Tennessee, Nashville, Magnolia, Black-throated Green,
Pine, Palm (good photos of a Yellow Palm at LaSalle Park), Blackpoll,
Black-and-white Warbler, American Redstart, Wilson's and Canada Warbler.

Lastly, Common Nighthawks continue to push through with a dozen of them seen
over Gage Park.

Today looks like a good day for the beach for the hardy, strong northeast
winds will be good to blow in some goodies.

Keep your sightings coming. It's going to be an exciting week here in the
HSA, I can feel it.

Oskee wee wee,
Cheryl Edgecombe
HNC.
