The wind blustered out of the northeast and the rain picked up in intensity by mid-afternoon, chasing us off. Raptor Observations: Turkey Vultures bobbed and weaved among the rain drops, joined by a nice variety of other species given the low overall totals. Non-raptor Observations: Tree Swallow (2300+), Bufflehead (19), Wood Duck (3), Common Loon (1), Bonaparte's Gull (9), Forster's Tern (15), Caspian Tern (4) Predictions: Partly cloudy with warmer temps and moderate east wind. Hopefully, a wind shift and clearer skies sends some more raptors our way. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
