Hello Hawkers

I wasn't going to post anything today as I'd mentioned previously that it was
only worth it once in a while. But the days have been so bad I'm losing touch.
Today , I got a Hawkwatching birthday present which made it absolutely
necessary to post. First we had a Bald Eagle which made that a total of 37 if
I'm correct and then along came my very own Golden Eagle - an immature in a
plain brown wrapper with whitish hands and wedges under the tail. Kind of like
a loose-limbed lanky sort of Redtail until you realize how high up he is and
how big he must be. And somebody comes along but by then the Golden is really
high and I'm all jumping up and down and excited saying "look! Look up there! a
Golden Eagle!" And the folks just say "What? Where?"
But what's really exciting is that these incredible beings seem to be on the
increase. One of Natures' sweet notes.
So what else did I get?

Turkey Vultures 20

Bald Eagle 1

Northern Harrier 2

Sharp Shin 9

Coopers' 1

Red Tail 1

Golden Eagle 1

Unid. Raptor 1

for a total of 36 Raptors.
Bluejays, White Throated and White Crowned Sparrows (aka the sad sparrows) are
on the way through as are Hermit Thrushes (wanna see 'em? try clicking your
tongue to say "tut tut"), Yellow-Rumped Warblers and both Kinglets. Hard to
keep your bins on the Dickiebirds though, when you just know that one of the
Big Guys is up there someplace.

Tomorrow there just might be another Golden Eagle plus more of everything which
we hope will bring you out to:
 Hawk Hill
right next to the Grenadier Restaurant parking lot
in beautiful High Park. The leaves have just started turning and should be
ready for your camera maybe by the weekend.
If I'm there when you come and you want to hear something really interesting,
one of Natures complex and grotesque relationships, ask me about Meloids - the
Blister Beetles.
And you thought Hallowe'en was scary? Ooooh.

Happy Hawkin'
