Weather:
Conditions remained consistent from start to finish. Gray clouds hung low
and thick. Temperatures hovered around the low 60s. And a dogged wind
blustered out of the north.

Raptor Observations:
Turkey Vultures took advantage of the strong wind, wobbling past all
afternoon. Sharp-shinned Hawks continued their southward march. Other
species were observed in limited numbers.   

Non-raptor Observations:
Blue Jay (2500+), Red-winged Blackbird (130+), Tree Swallow (400+),
Northern Rough-winged Swallow (6), Chimney Swift (3), Pine Siskin (30+),
Yellow-rumped Warbler (7), American Wigeon (8), Blue-winged Teal (4), Ruddy
Duck (4), Pied-billed Grebe (3), scaup sp. (14), Killdeer (2), Common Loon
(1), Great Egret (2), Great Blue Heron (4), Monarch (1)

Predictions:
Mostly sunny with highs in the 60s and light west wind.

Site Description:
The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River
International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International
Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located
approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan. The location is at the
mouth of the Detroit River as it enters Lake Erie.

Directions to site:
Lake Erie Metropark:
>From I-75, exit at Huron River Drive (exit 27). Continue east on Huron
River Drive. Turn left on West Jefferson and proceed a few hundred yards to
the entrance of Lake Erie Metropark. After paying the entrance fee, follow
the signs to the Boat Launch.
