Weather:
Mostly clear in the morning and mostly cloudy in the afternoon, it was
chillier today than at any point this season, with temperatures topping out
in the high 40s. The wind was moderate and out of the west.

Raptor Observations:
Turkey Vultures and Sharp-shinned Hawks continued to dominate the overall
totals. They were joined by an increasing number of Cooper's and Red-tailed
hawks, a handful of Red-shouldered Hawks and the season's fourth Golden
Eagle.

Non-raptor Observations:
Blue Jay (4000+), Red-winged Blackbird (1000+), Rusty Blackbird (8), Common
Grackle (3), American Crow (80+), Tree Swallow (2900+), Tundra Swan (4),
Horned Grebe (3), Pied-billed Grebe (1), Great Egret (3), Common Loon (1)

Predictions:
Clear skies with cool temps and light northwest wind.

Site Description:
The Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River
International Wildlife Refuge and its Friends group, the International
Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located
approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan. The location is at the
mouth of the Detroit River as it enters Lake Erie.

Directions to site:
Lake Erie Metropark:
>From I-75, exit at Huron River Drive (exit 27). Continue east on Huron
River Drive. Turn left on West Jefferson and proceed a few hundred yards to
the entrance of Lake Erie Metropark. After paying the entrance fee, follow
the signs to the Boat Launch.
